The ongoing dispute between Wike and Fubara has fueled tensions within the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State. During a luncheon held in honor of the 10th Legislative Assembly of Rivers State in Port Harcourt, Wike accused Fubara of managing state finances without a proper budget, arguing that such matters should be addressed at the federal high court rather than the state high court.
Wike further stated that the state assembly is challenging the administration’s unauthorized spending, and urged the Central Bank and Accountant General to stop releasing funds that are not accounted for in the budget.
Additionally, Wike took a swipe at former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, labeling him a “serial loser” in response to Atiku’s praise for recent local government election results in Rivers State. Wike highlighted Atiku’s repeated electoral defeats, citing his unsuccessful presidential bids in 2019 and 2023 as evidence of his rejection by the Nigerian populace.
