During England’s match against Greece at Wembley on Thursday, Bukayo Saka sustained an injury to his right leg, forcing him to be substituted in the 51st minute for Chelsea winger Noni Madueke.
Bukayo Saka, 23, was visibly in discomfort, seen stretching and holding the back of his right leg before eventually sitting on the turf after Greece scored their opening goal through Vangelis Pavlidis.
After the game which ended in a 2-1 defeat to England, Carsley mentioned that Saka felt something in his leg in the build-up to Greece’s first goal.
The coach said, “He’s being assessed. Obviously, in the build-up to the first goal, you can see he felt something in his leg.”
Meanwhile, England was also without the injured duo of Harry Kane and Jack Grealish for the match, but both are expected to recover in time for Sunday’s UEFA Nations League match against Finland.
In addition to Saka’s injury, coach Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are already dealing with the absence of captain Martin Odegaard, who suffered an ankle injury while representing Norway in September.
Arsenal are set to return to Premier League action on 19 October when they face Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium.
