Google, through its partnership with the Del-York Creative Academy, will provide training in various creative fields such as music, film, animation, content creation, live production, and audio. The programme is part of the government’s Creative Leap Acceleration Programme (CLAP), which seeks to develop skills, encourage innovation, and strengthen public-private partnerships in Nigeria’s growing creative sector.

The initiative will be executed through the National Council for Arts and Culture, leveraging its resources to ensure the success of the project. Google noted that this effort aligns with CLAP’s goals of creating job opportunities, diversifying the economy, and enhancing Nigeria’s cultural exports.

Minister of Arts, Culture, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa-Musawa, expressed excitement about the collaboration, stating, “This programme is not only about job creation but positioning Nigeria as a leader in global cultural exports. It aligns with the president’s Renewed Hope agenda, empowering our youth to drive innovation and economic growth.”

The six-week programme will provide foundational training in visual storytelling, video content production, motion graphics, and AI integration in the creative process. A select group will also participate in an intensive three-week mentorship programme, culminating in a high-quality visual content project.

Olumide Falegan, Google’s EMEA Music & Culture Manager, highlighted the importance of investing in Nigeria’s creative talents, stating that the initiative will strengthen Africa’s cultural influence and contribute to the region’s economic prosperity.

Del-York Group CEO, Linus Idahosa, emphasized that the partnership will bridge the gap between creative talents and corporate stakeholders, equipping young people with the skills needed for success in the industry.
