House Of Reps Tasks NOA With Improving Promotion Of Government Policies. The House also asked the government to review budgetary allocations to Agency in line with current realities to enable them carry out successful re orientation of citizens.
In a resolution following a motion on notice by Adewale Hammed (APC, Lagos), the House directed its relevant committees to collaborate with stakeholders, including Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Traditional Institutions, Religious Bodies, Community Leaders, Civil Society Organizations, and the media to amplify outreach efforts and enhance the effectiveness of public enlightenment campaigns for the holistic development of our beloved country.
It also mandate the Committees on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values to conduct a thorough oversight and recommend appropriate measures that will enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the Agency for improved service delivery.
In moving the motion, Hammed said there the need for a comprehensive re-orientation of Nigerians on national values, encouraging a growth mindset, and promoting the spirit of unity and patriotism.
He said it was as a result of this ground need that the National Orientation Agency of Nigeria was established in 1993 with a clear mandate to promote civic responsibility and orient Nigerians on national values.
According to him, the Agency is empowered to among other things, propagate the need to eschew all vices in public life, promote dignity of labour and consumption of local products and establish social institutions for fostering national integration.
He said the NOA has an elaborate grassroots structure and extensive reach to the majority of Nigerians in the thirty–six (36) States of the Federation, the Federal Capital Territory and 774 Local Government Areas, it serves as a veritable tool for citizen mobilization and engagement.
He said further that the budgetary allocation for the Agency in the Appropriation Act, 2024 is N8, 819, 470, 967 only, while expressing concern that the existing funding provided for the Agency is grossly inadequate to meet the extensive responsibilities of the agency and its offices across the nation.
He maintained that given the prevailing trend of youth restiveness and social vices in the nation, there is definitely an urgent need to implement measures for effective reorientation of citizens to curb vices, re-orient the people and encourage growth within our society;.

Sule made this known during a meeting with political appointees at the Government House in Lafia, a move seen as an early signal of political succession plans in the state.
Wadada, who currently represents Nasarawa West in the 10th Senate, recently dumped the Social Democratic Party for the APC, further fuelling speculations about his governorship ambition.
The governor also faulted public officials who parade routine duties like salary payments, road construction and provision of basic amenities as landmark achievements.
Speaking on Wednesday at the 59th inaugural lecture of Nasarawa State University, Sule said governance should go beyond basic responsibilities and focus on policies that directly improve people’s lives.
According to him, leaders must think beyond conventional projects and pursue solutions that bring lasting impact to citizens.
Using his administration as an example, Sule recalled how frequent fire outbreaks at a major market used to force the government into repeated relief payouts to traders.
He said rather than continuing temporary interventions, his government chose to build a modern market to permanently tackle the problem, adding that there has been no report of another fire incident since the reconstruction.
Sule also highlighted the construction of a bridge in Auta near Keffi, which he said has greatly reduced years of devastating flooding in the area.
At the event, Ike Neliaku praised Sule’s development strides, especially road and infrastructure projects across key parts of the state.
Also speaking, Emmanuel Dandaura stressed the need for institutions to align communication with performance, warning that failure to do so could erode public trust.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Sultan’s media team, through Prince Bashir Adefaka, warned an American commentator identified as Mac Arnold to stop spreading what it described as baseless and defamatory claims.
The statement said Mac Arnold had made a series of sensational allegations aimed at drawing public attention while targeting the person and office of the Sultan.
According to the Sultan’s media team, the claims suggesting any link between the traditional ruler and violence or terrorism are misleading and unsupported by credible evidence.
It stressed that the Sultan remains a respected religious and national leader who has consistently promoted peace, interfaith harmony, and national unity both in Nigeria and internationally.
The statement urged members of the public and the global community to verify information from reliable sources and avoid amplifying divisive content that could inflame tensions.
It also warned that any defamatory material or comments capable of inciting discord would be subjected to legal action under both Nigerian and international laws.
The Sultanate reaffirmed its commitment to peace, justice, and national unity, insisting that it would continue working with relevant stakeholders to promote stability and coexistence.

Mimiko announced his decision in a resignation letter dated April 10, 2026, addressed to the PDP chairman of Ward 7 in Ondo West Local Government Area.
In the letter, the former governor said growing speculation about his political future made it necessary for him to clarify his status.
He noted that he had been largely absent from party activities in recent times and wanted it clearly stated that he is no longer a member of the PDP.
“I am tendering my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party, effective from April 10, 2026,” he wrote.
Mimiko added that his decision was made without bitterness or ill feelings toward anyone in the party.
The development was confirmed by his former Chief Press Secretary, Eni Akinsola, who said the resignation letter had been duly submitted, although he did not disclose further details.
