Bayero has been staying in the Nasarawa mini Palace since his deposition on May 25, 2024.

The applicants are the Kano State Government, the Attorney General of Kano and the Kano Emirate Council.

The sole respondent is the deposed Emir, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero.

The applicants, through their counsel, Rilwanu Umar (SAN), filed a motion ex parte dated  September 12 seeking a court order to restrain Ado-Bayero from renovating the Nasarawa mini palace.

When the case came up for hearing on Wednesday, Habib Akilu, who appeared for the applicants, told the court that the defendant was not represented and the substantive suit was ripe for hearing.

Akilu, therefore, moved the interlocutory application seeking to stop the defendant from reconstructing or changing the mini palace.

The presiding judge and Chief Judge of Kano State, Justice Dije Aboki, adjourned the matter until  October 10, 2024, for ruling and mention of the substantive suit.

Justice Aboki ordered that all processes should be pasted on the notice board of the court.

The court had on September 13, 2024, granted an order of interim injunction restraining the deposed Emir from renovating and repairing the mini palace.

“Reconstructing and refurbishing the property known as Gidan Sarki Nasarawa situated along State Road, Kano pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice”

The court directed parties involved in the suit to maintain the status quo with respect to the structural and architectural design of the palace pending the hearing and determination of the suit.
