Independence Day Message: Alia Urges Citizens To Exercise Patience And Give More Time
Independence Day Message: Alia Urges Citizens To Exercise Patience And Give More Time. Gov. Hyacinth Alia of Benue has appealed for patience, saying that most government policies take time to yield results and his administration would not fail the people.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Alia made the appeal on Tuesday during a live broadcast in Makurdi to commemorate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day anniversary.
The governor stated that his administration’s focused on the well-being of every Benue citizen.
He also congratulated the people of the state and all Nigerians for their resilience and for living peacefully together.
“As your governor, I am committed to your welfare and urge each of you, both in Benue and across Nigeria, to continue supporting the policies and programmes of the government.
“These initiatives are designed to improve our collective welfare, though their impact may take time to fully manifest. Progress often requires patience, understanding, and the cooperation of every citizen.
“I call on you to renew your hope in this government, as we are committed to the progress of our state,” he said.
He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that what was due to workers and pensioners in the state was paid on time.
Alia said with the continued support of everyone in the state, his administration was on course to build a Benue that was peaceful, prosperous, and served as a model of good governance in Nigeria.
According to him, his administration has aligned this year’s celebration with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), where the government has already made strides in areas such as poverty reduction, zero hunger, quality education, and decent work.
“All these efforts aim to empower every citizen of the state, enabling them to become productive and contribute to the development of Benue,” he said.
He also highlighted the massive infrastructural projects in the state that were connecting communities for improved living standards and economic activities.
On the October 5th Local Government Council elections in the state, he urged Benue people to come out and vote for APC candidates for progress, development, and continued good governance under the APC-led government.
“The collective future of our villages depends on the choices we make on that day, as local governments are closest to the people.
“The opposition parties have had their time, and we all know the path they led us down: a path of underdevelopment, massive corruption, stagnation, and setbacks.
“But today, we stand on the threshold of progress, and we must not allow any backward steps. Let us vote for progress, development, and continued good governance under the APC banner,” he said.

2027 Election: Productivity Or Ruin? Alaje Reveals What Nigerians Must Demand From Presidential Candidates.
Senior Economist at SPM Professionals, Paul Alaje, has warned that any presidential candidate who fails to prioritise productivity could damage Nigeria’s economy if elected in 2027.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The leading contenders in the forthcoming presidential election include President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) and Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Alaje urged Nigerians to scrutinise candidates’ economic plans, particularly their proposals for increasing national productivity and improving living standards.
He challenged presidential hopefuls to present practical policies capable of boosting economic output and creating better opportunities for Nigerians.
“Anybody who is not discussing productivity is going to run the economy down,” he said.
When asked what Nigerians should consider before choosing a candidate in the 2027 election, the economist emphasised the importance of policies that would improve citizens’ purchasing power and make basic necessities more affordable.
“Any candidate who is telling you that the money in your pocket will buy more, will improve more, and will afford your rent, that is the candidate you should vote for,” Alaje stated.
Meanwhile, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi as political gamblers.
Wike accused the opposition figures of pursuing presidential ambitions without presenting a clear vision for the country.
The minister made the remarks on Friday during a Rainbow Coalition town hall meeting in Ayama, Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Addressing traditional rulers, political leaders, academics, women and youths, Wike urged Nigerians to assess presidential candidates based on their records rather than campaign promises.
He particularly criticised Atiku over his repeated attempts to become Nigeria’s president.

‘Yes, They Are Truly Mad’ – Presidency’s Onanuga Hits Back At Amaechi In Fresh Exchange.
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to President Bola Tinubu, has responded to Rotimi Amaechi, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate, over his remarks describing supporters of the current administration as mad.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Amaechi, a former Minister of Transportation, reportedly made the comments during a town hall meeting in Benin City, Edo State, where he said only “mad people” and “thieves” would vote for Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
He criticised the President’s economic policies, describing the removal of the fuel subsidy as “reckless”, and urged residents of Edo State to reject Tinubu at the polls in 2027.
Amaechi also argued that Nigerians campaigning for the President’s re-election should not be trusted, adding that those planning to vote for Tinubu were not thinking clearly.
He said the 2027 election would show the number of Nigerians willing to support the President and maintained that Edo residents should vote against Tinubu if they wanted to demonstrate sound judgment.
Reacting to the remarks in a post on his X account, Onanuga acknowledged that Tinubu’s supporters were indeed “MAD”, but gave the word a different meaning.
According to the presidential aide, the acronym stands for “Motivated, Assured and Determined”, describing the qualities he believes characterise supporters of Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Onanuga wrote: “Rotimi Amaechi: Yes, we, the followers and supporters of President Tinubu, are truly MAD. Read why we are.
“Motivated, driven by purpose and passion. Assured, confident in our vision and victory.
“Determined, focused, resolute, and unstoppable for President Tinubu’s re-election.”

Davido recently faced backlash following the decision of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, to declare support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Reacting to the controversy in a post on his Instagram page on Sunday, Israel described the claims of Davido’s alleged secret support for the APC as fabricated stories intended to generate social media engagement.
He also claimed that the singer had rejected several millions of dollars offered to him to endorse presidential candidates, insisting that Davido remained committed to standing with Nigerians.
Israel further maintained that Davido’s previously stated position on the APC had not changed.
In his words:
“Dearest Nigerians, kindly disregard the useless rumours going around that Oga has been secretly or is currently working for the APC.
“All are totally fabricated lies to gain social media traffic. His earlier stance still remains.
“Oga has rejected several millions of dollars to endorse any of the presidential candidates. He keeps saying he would be with Nigerians, who are going through a lot, and that he would never betray them at all. What else do Nigerians want again?”
