The Edo South Patriotic Forum (ESPF), a respected group dedicated to the advancement and stability of Edo State, has vehemently criticized Obaseki’s dangerous rhetoric. Chief Emmanuel Aigbe, President of the ESPF, has condemned the Governor’s statement, calling it both reckless and irresponsible.
Chief Aigbe emphasized the serious repercussions of such statements: “Governor Obaseki’s ‘do or die’ declaration is a direct threat that could provoke violence and chaos. This kind of rhetoric undermines the democratic process and jeopardizes the safety of our citizens.”
The ESPF outlines several potential consequences of Obaseki’s remarks:
- Increased Violence: The provocative language could incite violence among extremist groups, endangering the lives of ordinary people.
- Voter Intimidation: The threat of violence could deter voters from participating, compromising the integrity of the election.
- Social Unrest: Such statements could escalate tensions and lead to widespread unrest, disrupting daily life and destabilizing the region.
The ESPF also voiced concerns that the PDP might be using this strategy to undermine the democratic process in Edo State. They believe the aim is to create fear and chaos to manipulate election outcomes rather than engaging in fair competition.
In light of these developments, the ESPF is urgently calling for immediate measures to safeguard the people of Edo. They appeal to all relevant parties to reject these provocative statements and work towards ensuring a peaceful and democratic election.
Chief Emmanuel Aigbe and the Edo South Patriotic Forum remain committed to upholding peace and protecting the rights of all Edo citizens during this crucial election period.
