The bodies were discovered by neighbors on Wednesday in the Isi Obehie community, though the exact cause of death remains unclear. A local source speculated that the family might have succumbed to generator fumes, while others have suggested the possibility of a ‘spiritual attack.’

The victims include three children, their mother, the mother’s sister, and her brother-in-law. The father, who was not at home during the incident, is the only surviving member of the family.

The family, originally from another part of Abia State, had been living in Obehie before the tragedy occurred.

The identities of the deceased have not yet been released. The spokesperson for the Abia State Police Command, ASP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of death.

“We received the report, and an investigation is underway to uncover the cause of death,” the Police spokesperson said
