The statement, issued in Lokoja, stated: “We have uncovered a sophisticated plot by disgruntled individuals and those behind the ‘Project Bring Down Yahaya Bello’ to falsely implicate him as a sponsor of the #EndBadGovernance protests nationwide.

“We would normally ignore the baseless accusations of a clout-chasing individual, a blackmailer and pawn used by unpatriotic elements, who have spread false and harmful reports about His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello’s supposed involvement in the protests.

“However, addressing these fabrications is crucial due to their implications on national security. Our commitment is further reinforced by the reprehensible actions of some protesters who have displayed foreign flags.”

The statement condemned the allegations as “reckless and irresponsibly malicious,” affirming that Bello remains a dedicated patriot who has invested his time, resources, and efforts into fostering national unity and prosperity.

It also highlighted Bello’s role in mediating a critical conflict between the North and South, averting a major crisis.

“The issue threatening our national unity was resolved through Alhaji Yahaya Bello’s mediation between northern and southern food transporters, ensuring the continuation of food exchanges. This intervention received widespread praise from national leaders.”

The media office also emphasized Bello’s support for President Bola Tinubu, noting, “In the lead-up to the 2023 presidential elections, Bello and his colleagues tackled several challenges, including the controversial naira redesign policy. Bello’s efforts in challenging the policy and securing a Supreme Court ruling to overturn it were pivotal at a time of national crisis.”
