This significant political realignment gained traction on Tuesday night when a high-level delegation from Gawuna’s camp met with Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf and Deputy Governor Murtala Garo. The meeting served as a strategic consultation regarding their political trajectory, where these senior NDC figures and Gawuna loyalists formally declared their support for the current administration and expressed a desire to collaborate on state development initiatives.
Nasiru Gawuna, the former Deputy Governor under Abdullahi Ganduje, was the APC’s gubernatorial flagbearer in the highly contentious 2023 election, ultimately losing to Governor Yusuf, who ran on the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) platform.
The delegation visiting the governor was led by Muhammad Umar, a close associate of Gawuna. Key attendees included Ali Datti Yako, the Kano State Vice Chairman of the NDC, along with Mansur Gawuna, Uba Mijinyawa (Uba Danzainab), Aminu Faruk, Sani Jibrin, Salisu Muhammad, Musa Indabo, Muhammad Bala, Hassan Abdullahi, and Abdurrahman Muhammad. Ade-John steps into this new capacity carrying experience from his previous role as Special Assistant to the Minister of Tourism. A seasoned grassroots politician within the All Progressives Congress (APC), he also functions as an APC Apex Youth Leader with a broad political footprint spanning international chapters. The presidency noted that President Tinubu anticipates Ade-John will leverage his background and expertise to drive the administration’s broader vision for mobility and transportation forward.
Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore has issued an ultimatum to the All Progressives Congress (APC), warning that the group will withdraw its backing in the 2027 general elections unless the Department of State Services (DSS) sets its National President, Bello Bodejo, free. Conveying the group’s grievances, Nasarawa State Chairman Akhajo Abubakar voiced deep frustration regarding the ongoing incarceration of their leader. Abubakar emphasized that the organization’s political direction and voter alignment in the upcoming polls will heavily depend on how leadership and members of the community are treated by the ruling establishment. Highlighting their political leverage, Abubakar noted that the Fulani community boasts over one million registered voters in Nasarawa State alone, giving them substantial muscle to sway electoral results.
This political friction surfaced on the heels of Bodejo’s fresh detention by operatives of the DSS, which occurred immediately after he secured his release from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Prior to this second detention, legal representatives of the Miyetti Allah leader had successfully satisfied all requirements tied to his administrative bail. However, as Bodejo was departing the EFCC national headquarters in Abuja on a Friday, DSS agents intercepted him and took him back into custody.
