In response to an ex-parte application from six PDP members in Rivers State, Justice Lifu directed the PDP, its Acting National Chairman Iliya Damagum, National Secretary Samuel Anyanwu, and National Organizing Secretary Umar Bature to move forward with the congresses as planned.

The court stressed that the PDP must adhere strictly to its guidelines, timetable, and scheduled activities until a motion on notice for an interlocutory injunction is resolved.

Additionally, the judge has barred the PDP and its national officers from allowing candidates who have not obtained the required nomination or ad-hoc forms within the specified period to run for any elective office or delegate position within the party.

This restraining order will remain in effect until the motion on notice is addressed.

Justice Lifu also required the six PDP members who filed the ex-parte application—Aaron Chukwuemeka, Benibo George, Solomon Ogbonna, Lenebari Inaania, Enia Harris, and ThankGod Owhorji—to provide a new undertaking to indemnify the defendants, should it later be found that the restraining orders were based on misleading information.

A court date has been set for August 15 for all parties involved in the motion on notice to present their cases.

He stressed that although the commissions have different regional mandates, they must work towards a shared national goal of inclusive and sustainable development.

Highlighting existing challenges, the minister pointed to issues such as project duplication, abandoned initiatives, and rivalry among agencies. He said the government would prioritise better coordination and accountability to improve results.

Momoh also announced plans to focus on completing ongoing projects before initiating new ones and revealed that performance bonds would be introduced for commission leaders to ensure efficiency and transparency.

According to the source, the twins maintained a daily routine of speaking around midnight, but the conversation took a sudden turn that night when unusual activity was noticed at the General’s end.

He said the line went dead abruptly after the General paused during the call, apparently due to the unfolding situation at the base.

The twin brother reportedly made repeated attempts to reconnect, sending messages and calling continuously, but received no response throughout the night.

“He kept trying until about 4 am, but there was no answer,” the source said.

The relative described the incident as devastating, noting that communication had broken down during the assault.

The late General was later buried alongside other fallen soldiers in Maiduguri, Borno State.
