On July 10, Minister Kyari detailed the government’s commitment to implementing measures designed to tackle the current food crisis. These actions are intended to ease the financial strain on millions of Nigerians who have been struggling with soaring food prices.
According to Naija News, this plan comes at a time of heightened frustration among the populace, aggravated by economic challenges and inflationary pressures affecting the Nigerian economy.
The government’s strategy includes boosting agricultural productivity, improving food supply chains, and stabilizing local market prices. These initiatives are part of a broader economic recovery effort aimed at achieving food security and promoting sustainable growth.
Here are the current prices of major food commodities:
Rice:
- Foreign rice: ₦78,000 per bag
- Nigerian rice (stone-free) and various foreign rice: ₦65,000 per bag
- 50kg bag of Golden Rice Nigeria rice: ₦75,000 per bag
Beans:
- White beans (25kg): ₦30,000
- Brown beans (25kg): ₦30,000
- Honey beans (25kg): ₦37,500
- White beans (50kg): ₦60,500
- Brown beans (50kg): ₦60,000
- Honey beans (50kg): ₦75,000
- White beans (100kg): ₦120,000
- Brown beans (100kg): ₦120,000
- Honey beans (100kg): ₦150,000
Garri:
- 1kg: ₦1,500
