Justice Majebi delivered this advice on Monday during a farewell session for Law School students at the judiciary headquarters in Lokoja, marking the completion of their five-week compulsory court attachment program.
Joined by other judges to whose courts the students were assigned, the Kogi Chief Judge emphasized the importance of professional ethics, proper attire, and societal decorum. He highlighted that society respects and honors professionals, particularly lawyers, who adhere to the principles of their profession.
Justice Abdul Awulu praised the students for their enthusiasm and eagerness to learn the complexities of legal proceedings. Hon. Justice Angelina Salihu addressed the ethical challenges lawyers face daily, stressing the significance of factual accuracy and ethical behavior in court. “I commend you for your approach to legal arguments and case management,” she said.
Justice Estu Umar highlighted the critical role of character in the legal profession, emphasizing that integrity and diligence are the foundations of a successful legal career.
Chief Registrar of the Court, Jubril Ibrahim, noted that the attachment program had adequately prepared the students for the demands of legal practice. He expressed gratitude to the judges for sharing their vast experience and knowledge with the students, which they pledged to apply in their future careers.
The farewell session concluded with remarks from Law School students from various campuses across Nigeria, including Lagos, Enugu, Port Harcourt, Abuja, and Yola. They gathered in Lokoja to celebrate the end of their five-week externship program, a crucial part of their legal education that provides hands-on experience in the judiciary before moving on to law chambers for further training.

Based on those firsthand observations, he maintained that ₦3,000 provides enough purchasing power to cover daily sustenance needs for an average individual within the country.
Elaborating on his economic perspective, Omokri emphasized that poverty must always be evaluated relative to each nation’s unique economic realities and localized cost of living. He contrasted the Nigerian situation with the United States, pointing out that while ₦3,000 can cover daily requirements locally, attempting to live on an equivalent nominal value in the U.S. would constitute extreme poverty, underscoring his stance that contextual evaluation is vital.
Furthermore, the ambassador-designate critiqued the rigid application of the World Bank’s global poverty threshold—specifically the standard benchmark of living on less than $2 a day—arguing that international metrics fail to accurately reflect ground-level economic conditions in Nigeria unless adjusted for local purchasing power and actual domestic expenditures.
