Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have arrested six suspects in connection with alleged one-chance robbery incidents in Abuja.

The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, announced the arrests in a statement issued on Saturday.

According to Adeh, the operation, conducted by officers from the Utako divisional headquarters, took place on June 16, 2024. The apprehended suspects are Abubakar Adams, Ibrahim Kasa, Sani Usman, Ismail Salisu, Yusuf Bello, and Nasiru Saidi.

The suspects are accused of targeting unsuspecting residents within vehicles or tricycles, robbing them of their valuables, and then pushing them out of the moving vehicles.

Adeh explained that the arrests followed multiple complaints from victims who reported losing their mobile phones, money, gadgets, and other belongings to these criminals, who have since confessed to the crimes.

Recovered from the suspects were light weapons, including cutlasses and knives, as well as a mobile phone believed to have been stolen from a victim.
