The late traditional ruler of Moro’a in Kaduna State, Mr. Tagwai Sambo, aged 88, was laid to rest in his hometown of Manchok, Kaura Local Government Area, Kaduna State on Saturday after a reign of 58 years.
The burial ceremony, held at Manchok Township Square, was attended by dignitaries including Kaduna State Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe and former Governor Ahmed Makarfi.
Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe praised Sambo’s dedication to peace, stating, “He was not just a custodian of our traditions but also a champion of peace.”
The late chief’s widow, Alisabatu Sambo, remembered him as a humble man who always prioritized others, describing his life as a journey marked by love and impactful deeds.
Senator Sunday Katung acknowledged Sambo’s leadership, highlighting his significant contributions to the growth and development of Kaduna State.
Bishop Mathew Kukah urged the youth to honor Sambo’s legacy of love, peace, faith, and steadfast principles.
Former Governor Ahmed Makarfi recognized Sambo’s commitment to his people and promotion of peaceful coexistence, portraying him as a model of dignity, composure, and serenity.
Born on December 24, 1936, Tagwai Sambo ascended the throne at the age of 30 in 1966 after serving as Commissioner for Works and Housing in the North Regional Government.
