According to a statement from FIFA accessed by Naija News on Sunday, the tournament’s groupings were detailed. The Nigeria U-17 women’s team, known as The Flamingos, finds themselves in Group A alongside the host nation. Kenya has been assigned to Group C, and Zambia to Group D.

Spain, the reigning champions from the 2022 tournament, achieved a historic feat by holding titles in the U-17, U-20, and senior women’s categories simultaneously, a first in the history of women’s football.

Sixteen teams will compete for the championship, following in the footsteps of past champions such as DPR Korea, Korea Republic, France, Japan, and Spain.

Each team now knows their group-stage opponents and the potential paths they could take in the tournament, culminating in the final on November 3 in the capital of the Dominican Republic.

Group A: Dominican Republic, Ecuador, New Zealand, Nigeria
