A pregnant woman, en route to the hospital for delivery, has been abducted by unidentified individuals in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State. According to reports, the woman left her home in Oke Lantoro and was heading to the state general hospital in Ijaiye, Abeokuta, when she was kidnapped.
Her husband, Ogunbunmi Lateef, received a WhatsApp message confirming the abduction of his wife. The spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident but did not provide additional details.
Ogunbunmi Lateef reported that his wife, due for delivery, had left for the State Hospital Ijaiye Abeokuta when he received a message confirming her abduction by unknown armed men,” the police spokesperson was quoted as saying by Daily Trust.
Ogun State is currently facing a high level of criminal activity in the South West region.

Omokri further emphasized that Nigeria must take control of its own narrative, arguing that relying on external organizations to define the country perpetuates negative stereotypes of poverty and backwardness. In addition to his remarks on governance, he highlighted Lagos State’s significant economic progress under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, noting an increase in GDP from under $100 billion to approximately $259 billion in purchasing power parity terms over the last six years, alongside rising income levels.
Addressing security concerns, Omokri dismissed claims that Nigeria is unsafe, pointing to the annual Detty December events in Lagos. He stated that the festivities draw 1.2 million tourists—making it Africa’s largest tourism event—without a single fatality or injury recorded.
