Tinubu Mandates Us To Win Edo For APC – Gov Otu

Writing by Sediq Mutari....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Governor Bassey Otu, the South-South coordinator of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has revealed that President Bola Tinubu has tasked him with ensuring that Edo State is won back from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking at the APC South-South conference in Calabar, Cross River’s capital, Otu mentioned his current status as the sole APC governor in the region but expressed confidence that another APC governor will join him in Edo State by September 2024.

“This meeting holds significant importance for me. Even Almighty God disapproves of loneliness. I discerned our president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and our party leader’s sentiments. He indicated that it’s not right for Governor Otu of Cross River to stand alone; we should add more states to bolster the region politically within the APC sphere.

“We are here to turn President Tinubu’s vision into reality and fulfill his directive. Mr. President can rest assured that Edo State will not evade our strategic efforts, embodied in the Renewed Hope and People’s First campaign. If we succeeded in Imo State, we can replicate that success in Edo State,” Otu declared.

Governor Otu ridiculed the PDP, recalling a time when it was a dominant force in Cross River State, likening it to a ‘kwashiorkor’ party. He noted that many had doubted the opposition’s ability to overthrow the PDP at that time.

“But today, the outcome is evident. People in Cross River State are experiencing freedom in every corner. Times may be tough, but this is just a prelude to better days ahead, and we believe we are genuinely advancing to the next level.”

Otu also emphasized the importance of unity among APC stakeholders in the region and advocated for key national appointments for party loyalists. He stressed that those who work hard should be rewarded, especially in states without APC governors.

“We seek more appointments for our people from now on. Those who work diligently should be acknowledged and rewarded, and states without governors should receive special consideration to strengthen their political standing,” he concluded.
