Atiku Ran To Tinubu For Support When He Was Harassed, Chased Out Of PDP – VP Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima has claimed that Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2023 presidential candidate, sought refuge with President Bola Tinubu when he was expelled from his party. Shettima highlighted Tinubu’s consistent support for northern political aspirations.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Tinubu’s Role in Political Support

Speaking at the 3rd Expanded National MSMEs Clinics, Ekiti 2024, in Ado-Ekiti, Shettima emphasized Tinubu’s dedication to improving governance and his history of supporting democracy in Nigeria.

Shettima stated, “The road that led us to Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu did not happen by chance. This is a man who has shown profound commitment to improving the quality of governance in this nation. He has shown the zeal, the passion, the knowledge, and the capacity. We are among the pacesetters of leaders who went about canvassing support for Asiwaju.”

Tinubu’s Sacrifices and Support

He further elaborated on Tinubu’s sacrifices, saying, “When many of his contemporaries were struggling to have a seat at the dinner table in Abuja, he was sacrificing his resources and goodwill energy towards the enthronement of democracy in this country.”

Shettima recounted Tinubu’s support for Atiku, noting, “He has been a very veritable sanctuary for victims of political witchhunts. When Atiku Abubakar was harassed, intimidated, dehumanised and chased out of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), it was to Bourdillon he ran for support, and it was in Bourdillon that he got the needed support and contested for the presidency of this country.”

Tinubu’s Support for Other Leaders

The Vice President also mentioned Tinubu’s support for other political figures, “Four years later, the same Asiwaju supported another Nigerian, to contest for the presidency of this nation; he is the current National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.”

Focus on MSMEs

Regarding the MSMEs clinic, Shettima said, “This expanded clinic has brought together the regulators in the sector alongside business owners and investors from various business classes across the length and breadth of this nation. And we are honoured to be joined by government partners and agencies such as SMEDAN, NEXIM, ITF, NAFDAC, and others.”

Ambassadorial Nomination Under Fire: Frank Tie Tie Exposes ‘Mistake’ Regarding Ex-FUOYE VC Fasina!.

Human rights lawyer Frank Tietie has criticized the nomination and subsequent confirmation of Professor Abayomi Fasina, the former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, as a non-career ambassador designate.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

  • Prior to his confirmation, a coalition of civil society organizations protested at the National Assembly on July 7, 2026, opposing Fasina’s nomination due to pending court cases involving allegations of sexual harassment, human rights violations, and victimization.

  • Despite these protests, the Nigerian Senate officially confirmed Fasina’s appointment as a non-career ambassador on Thursday.

Frank Tietie’s Position

  • During an interview on ARISE Television, Tietie argued that nominating an individual with such “baggage” was a mistake, emphasizing that ambassadors represent Nigeria in the same capacity as the President.

  • Tietie stated that the government should have sent the “right signals” by avoiding such controversial appointments, especially given the current state of governance.

  • He argued that even in the absence of a final court judgment, the allegations themselves have “tainted” Fasina’s reputation, and the Senate should have delayed the confirmation until the legal matters were resolved.

  • Tietie also suggested that the National Assembly’s decision overlooks significant social changes regarding how such allegations are now viewed by society.
