Joshua Olawuyi, a suspected internet fraudster, has been apprehended by operatives of the Zone 2 Police Command in Onikan, Lagos. The arrest comes in connection with allegations of obtaining a vehicle through false pretenses and misappropriating N30 million.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Umma Ayuba, the Zonal Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest, stating that the command, led by Assistant Inspector-General of Police Olatoye Durosinmi, acted on a petition filed by Adesuwa Ogizie, a US-based licensed car dealer.

According to Ayuba, the petitioner reported that in 2016, Olawuyi contacted her to purchase a Mercedes Benz GLE 350 valued at N30 million. However, Olawuyi allegedly deceived her by claiming that his brother, Jude Hanslem, would make the payment on his behalf.

After the vehicle was delivered to Olawuyi in Nigeria, Ogizie discovered that the funds deposited into her account were obtained through fraudulent means.

Following the petition, a team of detectives from the Zonal Anti-Kidnapping Unit Zone 2, led by SP Abass Gadzama, swiftly apprehended Olawuyi.

During interrogation, Olawuyi confessed to the crime, admitting involvement in internet fraud at the time of the offense. He claimed that the Mercedes Benz GLE 350 had been sold and the proceeds converted.

The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be communicated as the case progresses. Upon completion of the investigation, Olawuyi will face prosecution in accordance with the law.
