The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially disassociated itself from former governor Rauf Aregbesola. This was announced by the party chairman, Mr. Tajudeen Lawal, in a communiqué following a stakeholders’ meeting at the state secretariat in Osogbo on Tuesday……CONTINUE READING
Mr. Lawal accused the former minister of interior of engaging in various anti-party activities, including forming factions that undermined the party’s interests. He urged party members not to be misled into joining Aregbesola’s groups, emphasizing that these factions are not recognized by the APC.
APC Secretary Kamoru Alao supported the chairman’s statement, announcing that the party’s electronic membership registration would commence following the inauguration of the committee by National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje. This committee will be responsible for training local trainers.
“We are advising our loyal party members not to register with Aregbesola’s group, as Omoluabi is not affiliated with our party in Osun state,” Alao stated. “As far as we in Osun APC are concerned, Aregbesola is no longer a member of the APC. We have notified the national secretariat three times about Aregbesola’s distractions and expect appropriate action to be taken.”
In response, Abosede Oluwaseun, the Publicity Secretary of Omoluabi Progressives, dismissed the allegations against Aregbesola. “When Aregbesola handed over APC affairs to his successor, the party’s structure was intact, which cannot be said now,” Oluwaseun remarked. “Attempts to suspend Aregbesola in his ward in Ilesa East Local Government Area have failed twice. We remain focused on repositioning the APC to reclaim the state from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2026.”

-
Stadium Expansion & Cost-Cutting: The club invested £63.5 million on land adjacent to Old Trafford as part of ambitions to build a new 100,000-capacity stadium, while co-owner Jim Ratcliffe has continued implementing strict cost-cutting initiatives and job reductions.
-
Future Outlook: Chief Executive Omar Berrada expressed confidence in the club’s trajectory and financial discipline, with the club projecting revenues between £740 million and £760 million for the current financial year.
Despite the positive financial outlook and a return to Champions League football under manager Michael Carrick, the team has faced a rocky start to the new Premier League campaign, picking up five points from their first five matches and exiting the English League Cup.
