According to reports gathered by our correspondent at the scene, the accident occurred around 6:30 pm.

Witnesses recounted that one of the vehicles, an Opel bearing registration number KJA758HL, was traveling at high speed when it experienced a sudden tire blowout, leading to loss of control and subsequent rollovers.

An eyewitness, identified simply as Raji, recounted that the Opel, laden with bags of cassava, veered off its lane towards Lagos and overturned twice before coming to a stop.

Raji further disclosed that the mishap also impacted a Toyota Camry with registration plate AAA716DZ, which swerved to avoid collision, ultimately landing in a nearby ditch.

“The Opel car was headed towards Lagos at a high speed when its tire burst due to excessive speed. It veered off, causing it to tumble twice. Fortunately, the two occupants, including the driver, emerged unharmed despite the spilled cassava on the road. However, the Toyota Camry following behind, in an attempt to avoid collision, lost control and ended up in a ditch,” Raji explained.

Another unnamed eyewitness expressed gratitude that the situation didn’t escalate into a tragedy, crediting the quick reflexes of the Camry driver for averting a potentially fatal outcome.

“The situation could have been dire if the Camry driver hadn’t swerved. Similar to the occupants of the Opel, the Camry driver emerged unscathed, albeit with significant damage to the vehicle,” the eyewitness remarked.

Upon inspection, remnants of the spilled cassava littered the roadway, with bystanders assisting in directing traffic flow.

Both drivers were observed assessing the damage to their vehicles, leading to a brief altercation as the Camry driver attributed responsibility to the Opel driver, demanding repairs.

Authorities from the Ogun State Sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps later arrived at the scene to manage the traffic congestion.

“FIFA’s Radical 2030 Vision: Massive 64-Team World Cup Expansion On The Table!”.

Published

on

FIFA President Gianni Infantino has revealed that the governing body is exploring the possibility of expanding the 2030 World Cup to include 64 teams. This potential shift follows the recent expansion from 32 to 48 teams for the 2026 tournament, which increased the match count to 104. Infantino advocates for this change to provide smaller footballing nations with greater opportunities to qualify, arguing that increased representation motivates countries to invest in their local leagues, academies, and national programs. While the proposal remains subject to approval by FIFA’s decision-making bodies, it aims to narrow the competitive gap between traditional powerhouses and emerging teams. The 2030 event, which commemorates the tournament’s centenary, is already unique for being hosted by six countries across three continents: Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay, Morocco, Portugal, and Spain.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

FIFA is considering a massive shake-up for the 2030 World Cup, with President Gianni Infantino hinting at a potential expansion to 64 teams. Building on the success of the 48-team format introduced for 2026, Infantino believes that giving more countries a seat at the table is essential for the global development of the sport. He noted that under the current expanded format, teams from all continents have proven their competitiveness, suggesting that the divide between established nations and newcomers is shrinking. If approved, this 64-team structure would be implemented for a historic tournament already set to span three continents and six host nations to celebrate the competition’s 100th anniversary. FIFA is currently evaluating the logistical and financial implications of such an expansion before making a final decision.
