According to Naija News, 65,500 Nigerians are set to perform the 2024 pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, with 38,805 pilgrims already transported in 92 flights.

In a statement released on Monday in Abuja, Fatima Usara, NAHCON’s Assistant Director of Public Affairs, emphasized the importance of respecting the sanctity of this religious event and urged the NLC to refrain from interfering with Hajj operations.

The statement read, “Information reaching NAHCON indicates that there are plans by a section of the NLC to disrupt the ongoing Hajj operations. This is coming despite the initial understanding that Hajj flights would not be affected.

“The commission appreciates the NLC’s concern for the welfare of its members; however, NAHCON urges it to respect the sanctity of Hajj as a significant religious obligation for Muslims.

“NAHCON advises the NLC to exercise caution and avoid tampering with Hajj conveyance as a courtesy to the Muslim faith. Any disruptive action could deprive intending pilgrims of their fundamental right to worship, especially with the limited time left before the closure of Jeddah and Madinah airports for the pilgrimage.”

The club’s revenue saw a 1.7 percent boost, largely propelled by a nearly 20 percent increase in broadcasting income following a third-place finish in the Premier League during the 2025/26 season. However, both commercial and matchday revenues dropped by nearly 5 percent due to playing without European football.

Key highlights from the financial report include:

  • Stadium Expansion & Cost-Cutting: The club invested £63.5 million on land adjacent to Old Trafford as part of ambitions to build a new 100,000-capacity stadium, while co-owner Jim Ratcliffe has continued implementing strict cost-cutting initiatives and job reductions.

  • Future Outlook: Chief Executive Omar Berrada expressed confidence in the club’s trajectory and financial discipline, with the club projecting revenues between £740 million and £760 million for the current financial year.

Despite the positive financial outlook and a return to Champions League football under manager Michael Carrick, the team has faced a rocky start to the new Premier League campaign, picking up five points from their first five matches and exiting the English League Cup.
