In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday, CP Gumel disclosed that “equipped and armed” personnel have been strategically positioned to manage any unforeseen circumstances that might arise in the identified areas. He emphasized that the state government’s ban on all forms of protest would be rigorously enforced. “Anyone found participating in protests will be arrested and prosecuted,” he asserted.
CP Gumel assured residents that they could continue their daily activities without fear, as comprehensive security measures have been put in place by the police and other security agencies to ensure their safety. “We are prepared to handle any potential security threats decisively,” he stated. “Any individuals or groups attempting to incite trouble will be dealt with accordingly.”
The police commissioner highlighted that there would be zero tolerance for violence or criminal activities. “Anyone found in possession of weapons will be arrested and charged with armed robbery,” he warned.
CP Gumel also urged residents to cooperate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious individuals or activities. “This cooperation is crucial for maintaining the peace that Kano is known for,” he noted. “With a robust security network, the police and state security agencies are dedicated to sustaining the peaceful environment in Kano.”
The deployment and strict enforcement measures come amidst rising tensions and are intended to preempt any disruptions to public order, ensuring that Kano remains a safe place for its residents.
