Speaking at a state banquet held on Monday night to commemorate his first year in office and the 57th anniversary of Rivers State’s establishment at Government House, Port Harcourt, Fubara expressed gratitude for the successes attained thus far, attributing them to the guiding hand of God. Despite the challenges posed by the political crisis, Fubara emphasized that the government has persevered with God’s grace leading the way, providing direction, and fortifying his resolve.
Reflecting on the journey, Fubara noted that while many were celebrating a full year in service to the people, his tenure of effective governance, marked by prudence and purposefulness, commenced only in the past four months.
During his address, Governor Fubara underscored the administration’s commitment to governance that prioritizes the welfare of the people of Rivers State. He extended gratitude to the citizens for their unwavering support, recalling the contrast in atmosphere from the start of his term to the present moment.
“The last time I had this opportunity to dine with you was on the 1st of January, 2024, and you know, the mood was not like this. We never knew we could even stand up till today,” remarked Governor Fubara.
He continued, highlighting the pivotal role of divine presence in the government’s affairs, stating, “You see the reason why we need to give God all the glory. It is very simple. One thing is very important and unique; we are succeeding because we are on the side of God.”
Governor Fubara emphasized the distinction between mere proclamation and genuine alignment with divine will in governance. He maintained that the government’s purpose remains unwavering – to deliver tangible benefits to the people of Rivers State, without compromise.
“It takes somebody who loves this State genuinely to embark on a project like the Trans-Kalabari Road. I am not from that axis of the riverine, where somebody would say I’m doing it because I’m from there. No. That project alone will cost this government over N225 billion,” Fubara affirmed.
In conclusion, Governor Fubara reiterated his commitment to serving the people of Rivers State diligently, guided by the principles of integrity, purpose, and divine grace.
