SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the command, confirmed the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday. According to Hundeyin, an individual, whose identity has not been disclosed, lodged a complaint at the Ilemba Hausa Police Division on Friday at approximately 4:30 pm.
The complainant reported that around 11 am on the same day, he heard his elder brother, Friday, 34, screaming for help. Rushing to the scene, he found Friday lying in a pool of blood, while two suspects, later identified as Abubakar Haruna, 20, and Mohammed Abdullahi, 18, were seen fleeing.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects are scavengers who had allegedly gone to an uncompleted building in the neighborhood to steal roofing sheets,” said Hundeyin. “The deceased challenged them, resulting in a fight, during which the suspects allegedly stabbed the deceased on the head with scissors.”
The victim was immediately taken to the Navy Hospital Satellite Town, where he was pronounced dead by the attending doctor.
The suspects are currently in police custody as the investigation into the murder continues. The victim’s body has been deposited at a hospital mortuary pending further investigation.

Three suspects, identified as Chinedu David (29), Ezeagwu Chukwuma (38), and Ifeanyi Ogbeanyi (45), were arrested during the operation. Lagos State Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani announced that the suspects were apprehended Saturday night while transporting the contraband in an unregistered MAN diesel truck.
The truck and the items, which included dozens of sacks of military uniforms and cartons of substances believed to be illicit drugs, were taken into custody. Preliminary investigation suggests the military gear was destined for the South-East region of Nigeria. Investigators are working to identify the source, owner, and intended recipients of the goods. They are also examining the level of involvement of the suspects and tracking potential co-conspirators.
While CP Tijani assured Lagos residents that the discovery poses no immediate security threat to the state as the items were being moved elsewhere, he expressed concern regarding the recovery due to historical connections between criminal organizations and the use of military-style uniforms. A police source confirmed that the truck’s driver and assistant were the first suspects detained, followed by two additional suspects who later came to a Surulere police station claiming ownership of the seized items.
