How Will National Anthem Bill Support Hunger, Banditry? – House Of Reps Member Challenges Colleagues

Ahmad Satomi Grema, a representative of Jere Federal Constituency of Borno State, has openly challenged his colleagues over the recently passed National Anthem bill. In a video published by PremiumTimes, Satomi questioned the relevance and impact of this legislative move amidst the country’s pressing issues. He urged his fellow lawmakers to focus on initiatives that address critical problems such as hunger, banditry, and insecurity, which directly affect the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

“Me I do not know how this National Anthem will affect the well-being of the common man in Nigeria. Let’s be realistic. How will this support either hunger, banditry or improve insecurity? Let’s do what is beneficial to the common man. I concur with the minority leader. Let’s look for something that will bring development in the eyes of the international community to Nigeria,” Satomi stated.

He highlighted the need for the House to prioritize modern and impactful advancements, drawing a stark contrast between the current focus on the anthem and more progressive global trends.

“People are talking about nanotechnology and internet optics and we are still discussing the National anthem,” he added, emphasizing the need for legislative efforts to foster progress, stability, and economic prosperity.

“There is a saying that says ‘Countries that rely on prayers will rely on the ones that do think. Please let’s think of something that will bring progress, stability, and prosperity to the economy of this nation and improve the lives of the common man,” Satomi concluded, calling for a shift towards more substantial and forward-thinking legislative agendas.
