On Friday evening, Adeyinka closed his office in Ilorin around 6:00 p.m. and returned home without any apparent health complaints. Despite having scheduled appointments with staff and non-staff of the correctional service for Saturday morning, he never got the chance to meet them as he peacefully passed away in his sleep.
In the early hours of Saturday, his family members discovered that they were unable to rouse him. He was subsequently rushed to Olanrewaju Clinic in the Sabo-Oke area of Ilorin, where he was later referred to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital. Tragically, he was confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital, and his body was then transferred to the morgue.
Mr. Philip, the spokesman of the state correctional service command, officially confirmed the heartbreaking news of the late controller’s passing in a statement issued in Ilorin.
Described as a humane, passionate, and free-minded officer of the agency, Adeyinka’s untimely demise has left a profound impact on those who knew him. A sympathizer at his residence in Zango-Kulende area of Ilorin expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing Adeyinka as a humanist and kind-hearted personality. The community mourns his passing as a black Saturday.
Sources close to the situation revealed that Adeyinka was expected to retire from service in 2025, adding a poignant layer to the tragedy of his sudden death.
