In an FAQ shared via its social media page, NEFUND clarified that only students of public tertiary institutions are eligible to apply for the loan. Applicants must submit proof of admission containing essential details such as their name, birth date, JAMB number, matriculation number, and BVN.

According to NEFUND, both new and existing students within the institutions, including direct entry candidates, are conditionally eligible for the loan. The amount of the loan available to each student will be determined by their institution’s charges. These charges will be remitted directly to the institutions, while the upkeep will be paid to the applicant in monthly installments.

Applicants will receive notifications, and the status of their loan application can be tracked through their profile on the portal. Repayment begins two years after the beneficiary’s youth service, provided they have secured employment or are self-employed. Beneficiaries who are still unemployed must provide a court affidavit every three months after the repayment due date.

Repayment entails a deduction of ten percent from the beneficiary’s salary at the source, while self-employed beneficiaries are required to remit ten percent of their monthly profits. Beneficiaries have the option to repay beyond the statutory ten percent monthly repayment rate, either through their employers or if self-employed.

However, applicants may be denied a loan if they have defaulted on previous loans from any licensed financial institution, submitted fake documents, or have been dismissed for exam malpractices by any school authority. Disqualification may also result from convictions related to fraud, forgery, drug offences, cultism, felony, or any offence involving dishonesty.

The club’s revenue saw a 1.7 percent boost, largely propelled by a nearly 20 percent increase in broadcasting income following a third-place finish in the Premier League during the 2025/26 season. However, both commercial and matchday revenues dropped by nearly 5 percent due to playing without European football.

Key highlights from the financial report include:

  • Future Outlook: Chief Executive Omar Berrada expressed confidence in the club’s trajectory and financial discipline, with the club projecting revenues between £740 million and £760 million for the current financial year.

Despite the positive financial outlook and a return to Champions League football under manager Michael Carrick, the team has faced a rocky start to the new Premier League campaign, picking up five points from their first five matches and exiting the English League Cup.
