Kwankwaso Behind Sanusi’s Reinstatement As Emir Of Kano – Atiku

KANO – Public affairs analyst and social commentator, Atiku Abubakar, has accused former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, of orchestrating the reinstatement of Muhammad Sanusi as the Emir of Kano……CONTINUE READING....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

This accusation follows Governor Yusuf’s signing of the new Emirate Council Law on Thursday, which dismissed the five emirs appointed by his predecessor, Abdullahi Ganduje, and reinstated Sanusi. The sacked emirs were given two days to vacate their palaces and residences.

During an interview on Channels TV’s Politics Today, Abubakar expressed that Sanusi’s reinstatement and the removal of the five emirs were politically motivated. He explained that former Governor Ganduje had previously removed Sanusi due to his perceived obstruction to the state’s development.

“Today is a sad day for the people of Kano State because I know the politics being played all along. It’s not new or surprising to us. The aide to the governor has mentioned Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, which is an indictment. He has been behind all this,” Abubakar stated.

Abubakar defended Ganduje’s decision to create additional emirates, describing it as a significant achievement for Kano State. He criticized Sanusi’s tenure as Emir, questioning his contributions to addressing the state’s social issues, such as the high number of out-of-school children and street beggars.

“Can you talk about Muhammadu Sanusi’s achievements in a state that has thousands of out-of-school children? What were his contributions? What did he do when he was the emir? It’s enough for you to come on air and speak English while your children don’t go to school. Is it enough to produce the highest number of beggars on the street? It is not by you speaking English and living a flamboyant life while Kano children don’t have decent meals,” Abubakar remarked.

The reinstatement of Sanusi has sparked widespread debate and underscores the ongoing political dynamics within Kano State.

Ufochukwu also noted that her agenda extends beyond trade, including the promotion of Nigeria’s culture, agriculture, and investment opportunities, as well as supporting training programmes in cybersecurity and information technology.

She assured stakeholders of her commitment to fully delivering on her responsibilities, adding that sustained communication and cooperation would be important in achieving set goals.

Participants at the forum highlighted the need for Nigeria to address structural barriers affecting business growth, while pointing to Israel’s innovation-driven economy as a model worth studying.

One of the attendees, Pastor Henry Opara, called for formal bilateral agreements, stressing that most current business interactions between both countries are informal and based on personal relationships rather than structured government frameworks.

He argued that stronger government-to-government agreements would provide clearer rules and more stable economic engagement.

Similarly, the National Coordinator of the Nigeria–Israel Business Forum, Mrs. Florence Osuji, urged both countries to renew official trade agreements, noting that some existing arrangements have expired, leaving current trade relations without strong institutional backing.
