As the electoral tribunal prepares to deliver its verdict on the Imo State governorship election, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the November 11, 2023 poll, has called for calm among the people of the state…….CONTINUE READING
In a statement released on Thursday and forwarded to DAILY POST, Anyanwu urged Imo residents to maintain unity regardless of the tribunal’s decision. He emphasized that the state’s unity would remain intact even if the court nullifies Governor Hope Uzodinma’s victory and declares him the rightful winner.
Anyanwu asserted that he had secured the highest number of votes in the election and expressed confidence in the tribunal’s ability to validate his mandate. He emphasized that his only request was for the tribunal to recognize him as the rightful winner of the election, which he claimed to have clearly won.
According to Anyanwu, Imo voters had genuinely supported the PDP in the election, and he urged the court to uphold their mandate. He cited precedents of courts nullifying elections where mandates were fraudulently obtained, expressing hope that the tribunal would uphold justice in this case as well.
The PDP candidate reminded Imo residents to remain prayerful ahead of the tribunal’s judgment, assuring them of his party’s readiness to deliver good governance if their mandate is restored. He also appealed for peace, urging party members and residents to avoid any form of violence and uphold the rule of law.
Anyanwu’s statement reflects the anticipation and tension surrounding the tribunal’s decision, with both political parties and Imo residents awaiting the outcome of the legal process.

Future Outlook: Chief Executive Omar Berrada expressed confidence in the club’s trajectory and financial discipline, with the club projecting revenues between £740 million and £760 million for the current financial year.
Despite the positive financial outlook and a return to Champions League football under manager Michael Carrick, the team has faced a rocky start to the new Premier League campaign, picking up five points from their first five matches and exiting the English League Cup.
