Former Special Adviser to Governor Hope Uzodimma on Special Duties, Nze Chinasa Nwaneri, was reportedly apprehended by the police in Owerri, Imo state. According to reports by Leadership, Nwaneri was arrested at RockView Hotel in Owerri on Saturday, May 18, by a special team of Police detectives. Sources indicate that Nwaneri was taken to the headquarters of the State Police Command and later returned to his hotel room after thorough searching by police operatives. The reason for his arrest remains unclear at the time of this report. Nwaneri had served as one of Uzodimma’s most trusted aides for over fifteen years before his recent departure.
In a separate incident, a football coach in Osogbo, Osun State, identified as Adebisi, was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) for attempting to sodomize one of his players. Adebisi allegedly took the victim, identified as Michael, to a secluded place after a training session at Fakunle Comprehensive High School, Osogbo, where he attempted to touch the victim’s genitals. The victim, however, resisted, and the attempt was foiled by a school guard. Subsequently, the matter was reported to the DSS office in Osogbo. Despite this, Adebisi continued his advances, inviting the victim to another secluded location, where he again attempted to coerce the victim into sexual activity. This time, the victim informed DSS operatives, leading to Adebisi’s arrest.
The incidents highlight the importance of vigilance and prompt action in addressing cases of misconduct and abuse, whether in positions of authority or within community settings like sports teams.
