According to DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, the command’s spokesperson, five employees of the medical facility, including a medical doctor, are currently in police custody. She confirmed the incident and assured that further details would be provided upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The incident reportedly occurred last Sunday, triggering concerns and suspicions among the affected family and community members. Mrs. C.B Williams, the mother of the baby and an English language teacher at Orofa High School, Odo-Owa, expressed shock and distress over the situation. She raised the alarm after the doctor and nurses who delivered the baby failed to produce the placenta and umbilical cord.
Mr. Rufus Sanya, Mrs. Williams’ father, emphasized the gravity of the situation, questioning how such crucial biological materials could go missing. He urged the police to conduct a thorough investigation to uncover the truth behind the disappearance.
Among the suspects detained by the police are Dr. Ajibola, nurses Rukayat Adeloye, Aishat Awolusi, Peace Alabi, and ward attendant Toyin Adewunmi. The community awaits the outcome of the investigation, hopeful for justice and closure in this troubling matter.

A Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has sentenced Sunmonu Olasunkanmi Thaoban to four years in prison for laundering ₦16 million by disguising its illegal origins and converting it into a 2018 black G-Wagon Jeep.

Guilty Plea & Sentencing: Justice Akintayo Aluko handed down the sentence on Thursday after Thaoban pleaded guilty to a two-count EFCC charge, alongside an alternative fine option of ₦1.8 million.

The Offense: Prosecutors stated that Thaoban acted as a middleman in 2023, funneling illicit funds to purchase the luxury vehicle, violating the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

Asset Forfeiture: In addition to the prison term, the judge ordered the permanent forfeiture of both the convict’s G-Wagon and mobile phone to the Federal Government.
