Origins of the Transaction: Mr. Ogunsanwo recounted how Portable, accompanied by a friend, expressed interest in purchasing a Mercedes Benz GLE 350 from Temmy Autos. Despite his initial reluctance to accept instalment payments, Mr. Ogunsanwo agreed to a payment plan suggested by Portable’s representative.
Agreement and Payment Terms: The agreement stipulated that Portable would make an initial payment of N12 million, followed by three subsequent payments totaling N15 million. However, Portable failed to adhere to the agreed-upon terms, making sporadic payments that amounted to only N13 million out of the N27 million total.
Efforts to Resolve the Issue: Despite persistent attempts to contact Portable, Mr. Ogunsanwo was met with evasion and verbal abuse. He sought legal recourse by reporting the matter to the police and eventually to the Commissioner of Police, leading to Portable’s arrest.
Impact on Business: The unresolved debt has had a negative impact on Temmy Autos’ operations, highlighting the importance of transparent and mutually beneficial business transactions.
Lessons Learned and Future Precautions: Mr. Ogunsanwo emphasized the need for caution when engaging in business with high-profile clients and pledged to exercise greater discernment in future dealings.
Support and Resolution: While Mr. Ogunsanwo has faced criticism and blame from some quarters, he remains steadfast in his pursuit of justice and resolution. He received support from friends, family, and customers throughout the ordeal.
Mr. Ogunsanwo’s case serves as a cautionary tale for businesses dealing with high-profile clients and underscores the importance of clear agreements and ethical business practices.
