Nkomoro Community Warns Against Imposition Of Monarch By Power Mongers

In a communique released on Friday and signed by community leaders Obiora Ezaka, Paulinus Okohu, and Romanus Igwe, the people accused certain members of secretly plotting to impose a traditional ruler in violation of the community’s constitution. They expressed concerns that such actions could lead to unnecessary conflict.
The communique appealed to relevant authorities to allow the community to elect their traditional ruler democratically, in line with their constitutional provisions.
“We pledge our unalloyed support to Governor Francis Nwifuru and humbly request him not to relent in his instrument of good leadership, equity, and justice in protecting Ebonyi people in their struggle to ensure that intimidation, rascality, and oppression are eradicated in our society, particularly in Nkomoro community,” the leaders stated.
Referring to Articles 3, 4, and 5 of the Nkomoro autonomous community constitution, the communique emphasized that the Ezeogo cabinet, as the highest leadership body, along with the law-abiding executive members of the Nkomoro town union, should plan and initiate a democratic process to elect a new traditional ruler. This process should be fair and participatory, ensuring quality, equity, justice, and freedom of choice for all indigenes while protecting their interests and aspirations.
The leaders also called for an apology from those conspiring to impose a ruler from Abakaliki, who they claimed had brought public disgrace and turmoil to the traditionally peaceful Nkomoro community. They demanded that these conspirators fulfill obligatory customs for genuine reconciliation and peaceful reintegration into the community.
“We further urge all citizens of the community, especially the imposters and power mongers, to desist and eschew any manner of actions or plans that may occasion a crisis in our land,” the communique concluded.
