Resident Doctors Protest Alleged Assault On Female Colleague At FMC Keffi
The Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Keffi, Nasarawa State, took to the streets in protest following an alleged assault on a female colleague by relatives of a deceased patient. Led by Rabot Thomas, the President of ARD FMC Keffi branch, the peaceful demonstration aimed to address the grievance over the incident.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to Thomas, the assault occurred when the female doctor and a hospital attendant attempted to navigate through a crowded walkway, encountering the deceased patient’s family members. Four relatives reportedly attacked the doctor, slapping her multiple times, despite her unrelated involvement in the patient’s care.

The incident, which took place late at night on May 14, prompted the ARD to take a stand against such assaults, citing previous occurrences of violence against medical staff within the medical center. In response, the congress decided to halt medical services for at least 72 hours to demand an end to physical attacks on doctors.

In acknowledgment of the protest, Dr. Yahaya Adamu, the Chief Medical Director of FMC Keffi, assured the doctors of a thorough investigation. He pledged to involve the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Security (DSS) to identify and address the perpetrators of the alleged assault.
