Ayambem’s advice came as the Assembly confirmed the nominees for appointment as vice chairman and commissioners of the State Planning Commission, as proposed by Governor Bassey Otu.
The confirmation followed a thorough screening process conducted by the Assembly’s Committee on Judiciary, Public Service Matters, Public Petitions, and Conflict Resolution, chaired by Davies Etta. The nominees underwent a rigorous question and answer session during their screening on May 8, 2024.
According to Etta, the appointments made by Governor Otu align with the state law, which mandates that the membership of the commission be drawn from the three senatorial districts of the state.
The Deputy Speaker of the House, Sylvester Agabi, commended the nominees for their past performances in various capacities, expressing confidence in their ability to elevate the commission to higher standards.
