Students Allegedly Arrested For Protesting Fee Hike During UI SU Inauguration

During the inauguration of the newly elected Students Union executives, some students displayed placards with the inscription “No to fee hike.” The presence of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Kayode Adebowale, and other principal officers did not deter their protest.
The arrested students, identified as Ayodele Aduwo, Adeyeye Olorunfemi, Nice Linus, and Mide Gbadegbesin, allegedly faced physical assault from university security personnel before being handed over to Operation Burst.
However, the university’s Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Adejoke Akinpelu, refuted the claims of student arrests, dismissing them as mere propaganda. According to her, the students’ demonstration during the SU inauguration was not met with any interference.
