Chidoka Raises Alarm On Political Crisis In Rivers State

Former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, has expressed deep concerns over the escalating political crisis in Rivers State, describing the situation as increasingly strange and frightening. In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Chidoka drew parallels between the current conflict and the Action Group Crisis in the defunct Western Region of Nigeria during the 1960s……..CONTINUE READING....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Chidoka noted that the ongoing feud between Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has divided the state House of Assembly into two factions. Governor Fubara has recently announced his intention to probe the eight-year administration of his predecessor, Wike.

Chidoka reflected on historical similarities, referencing the 1962 crisis in Western Nigeria where Dr. Moses Majekodunmi, the Sole Administrator, set up the Coker Panel of Inquiry. This panel investigated the affairs of certain parastatals, ultimately finding Chief Obafemi Awolowo guilty while exonerating his rival, Chief Samuel Akintola.

Chidoka suggested that a similar inquiry into the last eight years of governance in Rivers State is likely to result in indictments and exonerations. He remarked that such an investigation would certainly indict someone and clear civil servants who were simply following lawful orders.

He concluded his post with a proverbial warning: “One day, monkey go go market…one day,” implying that the ongoing tensions and actions will eventually lead to significant consequences.

This statement from Chidoka adds a historical perspective to the current political turmoil in Rivers State, highlighting the potential for serious repercussions as the situation continues to develop.
