The forum comprising 37 State Women Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has voiced their discontent over what they perceive as abandonment by President Bola Tinubu following their significant contributions to his electoral victory in the last election…….CONTINUE READING
During a solidarity visit to the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, at the party secretariat in Abuja, the aggrieved leaders expressed their disappointment regarding their exclusion from the benefits of party politics.
Patricia Yakubu, the President of the forum, lamented the lack of recognition for their efforts, noting that none of their members had been deemed deserving of compensation with an appointment or post-election reward from the presidency.
Yakubu highlighted that after the 2023 general election, they received meager acknowledgments in the form of one bag of rice and a paper wrapper each.
Despite their frustrations, the forum conveyed their support for the Ganduje-led National Working Committee, passing a vote of confidence on the national chairman.
The leaders appealed to the president and party leadership to acknowledge their sacrifices and include them in federal appointments.
Additionally, they accused the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, led by Dr. Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, of distributing cash palliatives without extending any benefits to their members.
The forum emphasized the importance of their involvement in women’s affairs at the grassroots level and urged for greater recognition of their contributions and participation in government programs.
In conclusion, the APC women leaders urged President Tinubu to address their grievances and ensure the inclusion of women in party affairs and government programs, especially in states without APC governors.
