PDP Chieftain: Expelling Wike Before 2027 Election Is A Risky Move
In a candid assessment of the current political landscape, Dare Glintstone Akinniyi, spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Youth Group, has cautioned against the purported move to expel Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), from the party.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Akinniyi emphasized the significant influence wielded by Wike and his loyalists within the party, stressing that overlooking this influence could prove detrimental. In an interview with Legit, he characterized the idea of expelling Wike and other members of the G5 ahead of the 2027 general election as “a banana peel,” indicating the riskiness of such a decision.
While acknowledging the internal divisions within the PDP, Akinniyi argued that expelling Wike at this juncture would be ill-timed. Instead, he urged the PDP reconciliation committee to foster unity within the party and impose sanctions for actions contrary to the party’s interests.
He stated, “The reconciliation committee should bring everyone to the table again, and there should be sanctions for any actions that are against the tenets cum interest of the PDP, as a party henceforth.”
Akinniyi’s remarks underscore the delicate balancing act facing the PDP as it navigates internal rifts and strives to position itself strategically for the upcoming electoral contests.
