Mother Of Five Convicted For Forgery Of Late Abba Kyari’s SignatureAbuja—A Federal Capital Territory High Court sitting in Gwagwalada, Abuja, has found Mrs. Ramat Mba, a mother of five, guilty of forging the signature of late Abba Kyari, former Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Trial judge, Justice Ibrahim Muhammad, deferred the sentencing of Mrs. Mba until May 16, 2024, but ordered her remand in Suleja prison.

The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC, had charged Mrs. Mba in June 2022 with five counts of cheating, fraud, and forgery.

During the trial, the ICPC’s prosecutor, Mr. Hamza Sani, presented evidence on how Mrs. Mba deceived job seekers by promising them employment with government agencies like the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), and ICPC.

Evidence showed that Mrs. Mba forged a letterhead of the Office of the Chief of Staff and the signature of late Abba Kyari, addressing it to the ICPC Chairman to request recruitment for three individuals.

However, a correspondence from the late Chief of Staff, also presented as evidence, distanced him and his office from authorizing the letter.

Justice Muhammad convicted Mrs. Mba on counts 1, 2, 3, and 5 for cheating and forgery but discharged her on count 4 for felony.

The court has adjourned the sentencing hearing to May 16, 2024.
