Secondus Appeals To Tinubu Regarding Wike-Fubara ConflictFormer National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Prince Uche Secondus, has stepped forward to defend Rivers State Governor Similaye Fubura, asserting that the governor is facing targeted attacks from political adversaries.According to Secondus, these adversaries are agitating because of Fubura’s refusal to grant them unrestricted access to the state’s financial resources.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking in Abuja on Saturday, Secondus pointed the finger at Nyesom Wike, the immediate past Governor of Rivers State and the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, accusing him of instigating Governor Fubura’s political challenges.

“The unyielding feud and contentious behavior of Wike have not only undermined Fubura but have also cast the entire state in a negative light,” said Secondus.

Secondus elaborated on the nature of the political tension within Rivers State, describing it as a battle against corruption and the misappropriation of state assets.

He commended Governor Fubura for his integrity and determination to safeguard the state’s treasury, despite facing significant opposition.

Secondus criticized Wike’s eight-year tenure as Governor and his current role as Minister, questioning the impact of federal projects attracted to the state during his time in office.

“These media attacks against the political leaders of Rivers State are unwarranted and diversionary. For the records, you should account for the three hundred million dollars ($300m) you collected from the NNPC for the Ogoni Oil well and the cash refund made by the Saipem oil and gas company and subsequently account for your eight-year tenure of over N4Trillion realized, mismanaged, and squandered. Rather than trying to cover your inadequacies through media attacks,” Secondus emphasized.

These attacks, he stressed, might escalate into a national crisis if not properly addressed.

While appealing to President Bola Tinubu to rein in the FCT minister, Secondus added, “I call on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to prevail on the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to stop overheating the Rivers State political atmosphere and allow Fubara to work. Whatever Wike thinks he is, it must be stressed that Rivers people made him.”

Reports indicate that the directive was issued on Thursday during an inspection tour of the ongoing construction along Arterial Road N16, which links Ring Road II to Ring Road III. The action came after the acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Richard Dauda, briefed the minister on buildings encroaching directly onto the project’s path.

Emphasizing that no illegal development will be tolerated to compromise critical public infrastructure or alter the Abuja Master Plan, Wike instructed the Department of Development Control to clear the obstructions right away.

“We’ll have to demolish this right now. How can it be like this? It’s a road and not a layout,” the minister stated.

Describing Arterial Road N16 as a vital project slated for completion by December, Wike also inspected progress on the five-kilometer Zaudna-Kaba-Kagini Road and a Magistrate Court under construction in Garki.

“WE ARE THE BEST IN THE WORLD!” Mikel Arteta Unleashes Fearless Ambition As Arsenal’s Title Charge Begins!.

The Spanish manager made this statement just a day before Arsenal’s opening fixture of the 2026/27 Premier League campaign on Friday, August 21.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Reports indicate that the Gunners will kick off their title defense at home against newly-promoted Coventry. This milestone marks the first time in 22 years that Arsenal enters a new English top-flight season as defending champions.

The occasion also signifies the dawn of a new era following Pep Guardiola’s resignation from Manchester City at the conclusion of the previous campaign, having secured six Premier League titles during his tenure. Arteta, who previously worked under Guardiola before taking the helm at Arsenal in 2019, expressed full confidence in matching that high standard of success.

Speaking to Sky Sports this week, Arteta outlined the club’s lofty aspirations:

“It’s certainly the ambition of the club and the owners to be the best club in the world. In order to do that, you need the best facilities, the best stadium, the best supporters, and you need the best squad and the best players in the world. That’s what we try to build with the actual players that we have, and with the players that we want to sign to make the difference for Arsenal.”

Notably, Arsenal has not secured consecutive English league titles since the 1930s—a feat that eluded even Arsène Wenger’s legendary “Invincibles.” Although last season ended with a narrow penalty shootout defeat to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the Champions League final, Arteta remains heavily driven to build upon the club’s recent progress.

“It’s very difficult. You have to raise the level from every angle,” Arteta concluded. “When I look into the eyes of my players, I see that fire, that desire and the will to be better every single day.”
