The attack, which occurred earlier in the week, also left nine others injured.

Micah Aude, the youth leader of the community, confirmed the incident, describing it as a sudden outbreak of violence that shattered the peace previously enjoyed by residents.

During his address to the community, Senator Katung commended the bravery of the locals for apprehending one of the suspects involved in the attack.

“I commend your community for the courage shown in apprehending one of the suspected attackers. I also call on security operatives to leave no stone unturned in identifying those who orchestrated this unprovoked attack and bringing them to justice,” stated Katung.

He also issued a stern warning against any community members colluding with attackers, emphasizing that justice would prevail.

Meanwhile, Mr. Amos extended prayers for the deceased and announced that he, alongside Senator Katung, would cover the medical expenses of the injured to aid in their recovery.

Additionally, Mr. Amos pledged to advocate for the re-establishment of a military camp in the area to enhance security and restore confidence among local farmers, aiming to encourage them to return to their fields for a productive agricultural season.

In response to the tragedy, the House of Representatives has urged Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police, the Department of State Services, and other relevant security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation into the killings and ensure those responsible are held accountable.

In response via an X post, Sowore rejected Atiku’s remarks, asserting that the AAC remains the sole political party that has steadfastly opposed the subsidy removal from the outset. He accused Atiku and other establishment politicians of shifting their stances based on political convenience and foreign capitalist interests, stating that they should not be permitted to rewrite history or masquerade as genuine opposition figures. Sowore further claimed that it was the AAC’s unwavering position at the Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference in Port Harcourt that actually rattled the Tinubu government, rather than any actions from Atiku’s camp.
