Why Edo Residents Should Think Twice Before Trusting PDP Again: A Closer Look At Governance Failures In Edo State ParastatalsAs the gubernatorial election in Edo State draws near, residents find themselves facing a critical decision about the future of their state. With Governor Obaseki, a member of the PDP, attempting to usher in a successor, Barr Asue Ighodalo, it’s imperative to examine the state’s governance landscape.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

A concerning revelation emerges upon scrutinizing the list of government parastatals in Edo State that are not functioning optimally. From the Edo State Oil and Gas Minerals Producing Areas Commission to the Edo Broadcasting Service, numerous agencies are plagued by inefficiency and redundancy. What’s more troubling is the apparent absence of functional chairmen and board of directors in these parastatals since 2016.

This governance vacuum raises serious questions about accountability, transparency, and effective leadership. Governor Obaseki’s alleged practice of running these agencies as sole administration without effective boards exacerbates the problem. Such centralized control undermines the principles of democratic governance and hampers the agencies’ ability to deliver essential services.

The implications of these governance failures are far-reaching for Edo residents. Emergency response, public procurement, traffic management, waste management, education, healthcare, and other critical services are all affected. The lack of effective governance directly impacts the quality of life and well-being of the people.

In light of these issues, Edo residents have legitimate reasons to question the PDP’s ability to govern effectively. The failure to oversee and manage government parastatals reflects poorly on the party’s commitment to good governance and service delivery.

Moreover, the absence of functional boards raises concerns about accountability and transparency in the use of public funds. Without proper oversight, there is a risk of mismanagement, corruption, and misuse of resources, further eroding public trust in the government.

As Edo residents contemplate their voting choices, they must consider these governance failures and their implications for the state’s future. The decision to trust the PDP again requires careful consideration of the party’s track record and its ability to address the pressing challenges facing Edo State.

Ultimately, the well-being and prosperity of Edo residents hinge on effective governance, accountability, and transparency. It’s time for voters to demand better from their leaders and hold them accountable for their actions. Only then can Edo State truly realize its full potential and thrive under responsible and responsive leadership.
