He made this known during an interview on the Echo Room podcast, where he explained that his mother was already seriously ill while he was still in the Big Brother house and her condition worsened significantly by the time he was evicted.

According to him, the prize money from the show played a crucial role in funding her medical treatment. He added that if he had finished as first runner-up instead of winner, he would not have had the financial ability to support her care at that critical time.

“When I was in the house, my mom was ill. By the time I came out, my mom was close to death. I’m saying it categorically now, if I did not win that show, if I had gone and come out second, my mom would be dead now,” he said.

Laycon also spoke about how he got opportunities in the film industry after the show, explaining that most producers approached him because of his fame from BBNaija rather than any proven acting experience.

He noted that even before pursuing formal training in film or completing his university education, he was already being offered roles, but he often questioned the motivation behind such offers, suggesting they were driven more by his popularity than his talent.

He further reflected on public perceptions of his career choices across music, film, and education, saying people often speculate that his decisions are influenced by struggles in one area or another, but insisted that everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
