According to a statement by CSC Babawale Afolabi, the National Public Relations Officer at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja, the CG’s SIS acted on credible intelligence, embarking on an extensive operational tour that lasted over 7 hours. During this operation, the team discovered the process of illegal refining, including the vandalism of oil well-heads and the diversion of crude oil through rubber and galvanized metal pipes to a locally constructed refinery equipped with cooking ovens, storage tanks, and reservoirs.

DC Appolos Dandaura, the CG’s SIS Commander, expressed dismay at the persistent and destructive activities of those involved in this criminal enterprise, despite the concerted efforts of security agencies to stem the tide of illegal activities.

He emphasized the significant achievements made by the squad in combating crude oil theft nationwide and acknowledged the public’s trust in the NSCDC through the provision of credible intelligence.

Dandaura reaffirmed the NSCDC’s commitment to apprehending and prosecuting those engaged in illegal petroleum-related activities, ensuring they face the full consequences of the law.

The statement highlighted the recovery of various exhibits during the operational tour, including a gasoline generator, a pumping machine, hoses, metal pipes, sacks used for bagging petroleum products, cellophane bags, head flashlights, batteries, and pliers.

Despite continuous efforts to dismantle illegal bunkering sites and prosecute offenders, the NSCDC urged communities to collaborate by providing actionable intelligence, emphasizing that intelligence gathering is essential for effective security operations. The NSCDC vowed to persist in its fight against oil theft and related crimes.
