Tinubu Should Recognize Top-Performing Ministers, Dismiss Underperformers – APC Chieftain
Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain and former Chief of Staff to the Governor of Imo State, has proposed the implementation of a reward system to incentivize excellence among Nigerian ministers, with the aim of delivering democratic dividends to citizens.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Nwosu urged President Bola Tinubu to commend and reward ministers who excel in their duties while advising the dismissal of those who fail to perform.

While acknowledging that it is premature to fully evaluate the administration, which will mark its one-year anniversary on May 29, 2024, Nwosu expressed confidence that Tinubu’s leadership is heading in the right direction.

He advocated for the conferment of national honors upon exceptionally performing ministers, stressing the importance of recognizing and incentivizing excellence in public service.

Nwosu highlighted various sectors where notable progress has been observed under Tinubu’s administration, including infrastructure development, urban renewal in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), improvements in the finance and solid minerals sectors, among others.

However, he cautioned against complacency, emphasizing the need for consistent performance evaluations to maintain momentum and ensure continued progress.

Addressing areas of concern, Nwosu pointed out ministries where performance fell short of expectations, such as the Ministry of Youth and the Ministry of Information. He stressed the critical role of the Ministry of Youth in addressing the needs of Nigeria’s sizable young population and called for its restructuring to better serve its mandate.

Similarly, Nwosu criticized the Ministry of Information for what he perceived as inadequate communication of government activities and urged its revamp to enhance public awareness and engagement.

Additionally, Nwosu raised concerns about the power sector, particularly the significant increase in electricity tariffs, and called for a reversal of the tariff hike to support medium and small-scale industries.

In conclusion, Nwosu reiterated his stance that non-performing ministers should be relieved of their duties, emphasizing that accountability and performance are paramount in driving national development.
