Abuja Police Detain Assistant Superintendent In Connection With Abduction Of Two-Week-Old Baby, Four Others
Authorities in Abuja’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have detained an Assistant Superintendent of Police, identified as Kulu, along with her partner Elizabeth, over allegations of abducting five children.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The abducted children include a baby girl less than two weeks old from Sokoto State, three toddlers under the age of two, and a five-year-old named Asmau Ya’u, who was reportedly taken while on her way to an Islamiyya school in Sokoto.
Doubts arose about the suspects while they were traveling from Sokoto to Abuja in an 18-seater bus, as fellow passengers noticed that neither woman could breastfeed the crying infant, despite the child’s evident hunger during the journey.
Abba Danbaba, a fellow traveler, and Comrade Nura Mukhtar of Human Rights Network Nigeria, informed Daily Trust that “During our journey on Saturday (April 27), we observed that the children were agitated and unable to communicate. So, as we alighted at Deidei, we queried them to prove if they were their biological children to which they answered in the affirmative. The ASP said she couldn’t breastfeed the toddler because she’s been battling breast disease. We then alerted Deidei police division who took the suspects to Gwagwa division and on Monday (yesterday), they were transferred to FCT command alongside the abducted children.”
Witnesses at Sokoto Motor Park reported seeing her with multiple children in the weeks prior, and it was later discovered that she had additional children in her custody at her Deidei apartment.
The FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident and stated that investigations were currently underway.

Court Sentences Man to Four Years for ₦16 Million Money Laundering, Forfeits G-Wagon
A Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has sentenced Sunmonu Olasunkanmi Thaoban to four years in prison for laundering ₦16 million by disguising its illegal origins and converting it into a 2018 black G-Wagon Jeep.

Guilty Plea & Sentencing: Justice Akintayo Aluko handed down the sentence on Thursday after Thaoban pleaded guilty to a two-count EFCC charge, alongside an alternative fine option of ₦1.8 million.

The Offense: Prosecutors stated that Thaoban acted as a middleman in 2023, funneling illicit funds to purchase the luxury vehicle, violating the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

Asset Forfeiture: In addition to the prison term, the judge ordered the permanent forfeiture of both the convict’s G-Wagon and mobile phone to the Federal Government.

In a separate proceeding, Justice Aluko also convicted four Bureau de Change (BDC) operators—Umar Muhammad Lamido, Yusuf Musa Yusuf, Abdulmuhimin Mahmud, and Muhammed Musa—for conducting unauthorized foreign exchange transactions outside the official market. Following their guilty pleas, each received a 12-month prison sentence with an option of a ₦100,000 fine.
A Delta State High Court has handed down death sentences to two individuals for their involvement in the 2018 killing of Delta State University (DELSU) undergraduate Elozino Ogege, following a ruling that found them guilty. Meanwhile, a third co-defendant facing charges related to the same incident was discharged and acquitted.
