Osun Taskforce Warns Petrol Marketers Against Hoarding....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Osun State Government Taskforce on Petroleum Price Monitoring has issued a stern warning to petrol station owners in the state, cautioning them against hoarding petroleum products to artificially create scarcity.

In a statement released by the taskforce chairman and Chief of Staff to the State Governor, Kazeem Akinleye, the warning was prompted by reports of a surge in the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, and the reappearance of long queues at filling stations in some parts of the country.

Akinleye emphasized that the taskforce’s surveillance revealed instances of petrol stations hoarding fuel, exacerbating the fuel supply situation in the state. He stated that this deliberate hoarding has contributed to the artificial scarcity experienced by consumers.

The taskforce urged the identified filling stations to open their tanks and dispense fuel to the public promptly. They emphasized the need for petrol marketers to demonstrate public-spiritedness in pricing petroleum products, considering the challenging economic circumstances faced by the public.

Failure to comply with the directive and address the fuel hoarding issue will result in severe sanctions, the taskforce warned, underscoring the importance of prioritizing the welfare of the public during these trying times.
